![]() ![]() Remove any greyed out items under that item and then any greyed out items (USB Mass Storage Device for example) under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers item. Look for Kobo devices under the Portable Devices item. zip file (showhiddendevices.cmd) to your desktop, right click and run as administrator, select show hidden devices from the View menu. My preferred alternative is the batch file attached to this message. Easiest way is to use Nirsoft's USBDeview. You might want to try removing the Kobo and other devices from device manager and then reconnecting them. What should I do? Is there somethere a Windows 10 usb driver for Kobo devices I could install? I checked that the usb connection works because Windows recognices my usb memory stick. I'm gonna email Kobo about this issue, my fix, and see if they can recreate it.I have a problem: after I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 my Kobo devices don't show up in Windows explorer (also my android ereader Boyue has the same problem). Might have to do with the latest update that I got, not too sure. I hope this helps out anyone else who has had similar issues, or someone in the future who has this issue. Try turning it off and seeing if that works. Tl dr If your Kobo Aura H2O (possibly other Kobos) is connecting/disconnecting when side loading ebooks via USB, and your WiFi on the Kobo is turned on. Turn WiFi back on, connecting/uploading worked once, and then it goes back to that connect/disconnect issue again. Seems that the WiFi and the USB subsystems might be sharing a data path to the processor, so there can be conflicts between them. I disabled WiFi on the Kobo, use a normal power+data USB cable, everything works fine. I press on it, it still says enabled, but the icon has changed.Ĭould the WiFi and USB be somehow connected? Turns out, that is mostly like the case. Then I noticed it, the WiFi icon changed to the "wifi disabled" icon. I figure, let's see what happens.Īt first, seemingly nothing happened, the battery icon on the Kobo changes to show it's charging. Try this 5th USB cable, just because I had it, but it only has a lightning icon on the micro-USB end, indicating it only does power, not data. So I left it to go watch a movie and just chill out a bit. Tried 4 different cables, nothing worked, could it be the USB port on the Kobo (hope not, that's difficult to fix). The 3rd time, I left it to go to the bathroom and when I came back, the Kobo connect prompt comes back up, so I try again. Restart the computer, same thing happens. So I try again in a different port, same thing happens. So I know from it happening before that I have to use another USB port if I just continue on, or restart the computer, so the USB bus is refreshed. The Kobo disappears from the Safely Remove Hardware menu in the task bar. ![]() Craps out, error in connecting to device, Windows kicks the device and it doesn't work in that USB port anymore. I load the books into calibre, then I go to send those books to the device. So I plug in the Kobo, Computer Detected connection prompt comes up on the Kobo, I press connect, everything is fine. I then bought some ebooks, and wanted to put them on the Kobo. I figured there could be some important updates. Okay, so a few days ago I turned on the WiFi on, on my Kobo Aura H2O for the first time in like years.
